Darling

Darling,

When my mask feels heavy
beginning to crack
with all the pressure of
smiling through a hurricane,
you carry it for me.
I love the way you think.

When my skin feels
like it's swallowing
my pride, and the
dizziness from the
world spinning beneath
my knees sets in,
you call me home.
I love the way you breathe.

When I need people so desperately
I run, only to lay eyes on
the distance uncrossable in time
to release the bottled tears
before they burst,
you calm my fears.
I love the way you love.

You're irreplaceable,
a necessary straight line.
